Summer & Fall Plantings                                

planters2: Our members help beautify the Village of Woodstock through seasonal floral decorations by maintaining (and being responsible for watering one of the areas for 2 weeks) :

Watering Schedule 2010

East end:  The plantings in the Roundabout and the eight bridge window boxes by the Post Office. Members: The water sources are the Roundabout, Bentleys, the Red Wagon and Primrose Garden

Town Middle: The whisky barrels in front of the Norman Williams Library, the barrels by the bench in front of the Covered Bridge and the 4 barrels on East/Middle section of the Green. Members: Not the barrel at the Town Hall end. The water source is in front of the Library (left of the front door) and you will need to get a key from the desk Librarian during Library hours to turn the water on. (The Green water source is unavailable at this time)

West End: This area includes the planters at Town Hall and the one whiskey barrel at the west end of the Green Members: Water source is at the front of Town Hall- right of the door.

Books

The Education Committee donates an annual gift for the purchase of horticultural books to each of the following elementary schools: Barnard, Pomfret, Bridgewater, Reading and Woodstock. In addition a gift is sent to the Norman Williams Library.

Scholarships, Prizes

Since 1983, the Education Committee awards scholarships to further horticultural education to qualified graduating high school seniors.  Additionally, several undergraduate horticultural encouragement awards are given at the culmination of each academic year.

Community Donations

The Community Donations Committee strives to promote and encourage organizations in our community that share our Purpose through annual donations. Some of the donations include: The Woodstock Historical Society, Edwin J. Thompson Senior Center, Change the World Kids, The Eshqua Bog, New England Wildflower Society and The King's Daughters and Sustainable Woodstock.
